The All Types of Media Arts Convention (ATOMACON) is returning to North Charleston for its ninth annual 3-day convention from May 5th to 7th. The family-friendly convention will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn International Blvd.  Attendees can enjoy: Panels on… Costuming (Cosplay) Paranormal Studies Art and Music Literature Filmmaking General Fandom such as Star Trek, Dr. Who, Star Wars, Marvel and DC Universes, and more Ratcliffe 5th Annual Independent Short Film Festival Screenings of short films in the Sci-fi, Fantasy, and Horror Genres The Guests of Honor Amy Ratcliffe Managing Editor of The Nerdist and an author of several Star Wars books including: Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy, The Jedi Mind, The Art of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Star Wars: Battles That Changed the Galaxy Her most recent book is The Art of the God of War: Ragnarok by Dark Horse Publishing Greg Keyes Author of over 30 novels including media tie-in novels for Godzilla, Star Wars, Planet of the Apes, Elder Scrolls, Independence Day, etc. Film Festival Guest of Honor Michael Smallwood Charleston resident Award-winning actor, director and writer He has had feature roles in The Inspectors, and both Halloween and Halloween Kills, as well as the upcoming feature, Livescreamers Over 40 other guest authors, paranormal experts, artists, and filmmaking professionals Charity auction and raffle to benefit Toby’s Fund for sick and abused animals Cosplay Contest Vendor Room Performances by Shortwave Kitsch, Yes Andventures Over 130 hours of workshops, discussion panels, movie screenings, kid’s activities, and many more interactive events Convention hours are: Friday, 3 pm – midnight Saturday, 10 am – Midnight Sunday 10 am – 2 pm Advance passes are available until April 30th for $40. Children under 12 are free with a paying adult. Single day passes are also available. – ATOMACON, Inc. (atomacon.org) is a nonprofit educational corporation dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for science fiction, fantasy, and science through related literary and other popular art forms. This is accomplished primarily through a convention to celebrate the history of and on-going contribution of science fiction, fantasy, science and related genres to art and popular culture.
